The Jersey Wakefield Cabbage is a popular cold-hardy variety. This historic cabbage was introduced to the United States by Francis Brill of Jersey City, New Jersey, in 1840. This variety forms tight heads which are 15" long and about 7" wide. At full maturity, they can weigh up to 3 or 4 pounds. For best results start seeds indoors 6 to 8 weeks before the last frost. Then harden them off after the last frost, before planting outdoors. Replant in the mid-summer for a fall harvest. For best results allow 6 to 12 hours of sunlight. Approx. 60 to 75 days to maturity.
