Rio Grande Verde Tomatillo
The Rio Grande Verde tomatillo yields large, apple-green fruit, and is the largest tomatillo you can grow. The globe shaped fruit reaches 3-4 ounces, and the yields are remarkably high. They produce 2-4' tall vigorous prostrate vine, and these plants require no staking. This tomatillo is extremely popular in the Southwest US for making salsa verde or chili verde when combined with fresh hot peppers. It is suitable for home gardens and market growers. For best results plant after the last frost in temperatures around 75 to 95 degrees and allow 8 to 12 hours of sunlight. Approx. 85 days to maturity.
